  • Scope and Content: The Elsberg papers consist of court documents related to Elsberg's complaint against hisbusiness partner Jacob Amberg and other New Mexico merchants in 1869. In the collection aretranscripts of the original complaint and responses to the complaint by Herman Ilfeld, Samuel B.Wheelock, Adolph Letcher and Charles Ilfeld. In addition to these papers, several documentsrelated to the establishment of a business by Charles Ilfeld in Tecolote, New Mexico, and hishiring of David Winternitz to run the business are included. One copy of a periodical, The WoolRecord, is also included. Items are handwritten and typed.
